Let your Health Freedoms ring 🇺🇸

I’m feeling so blessed to be an American, for my family, and the spirit of our great United States!

As I was thinking about what to write about today, I found myself full of gratitude! Grateful for our founding fathers and all the hard work they so graciously blessed our country with. They truly believed in their remarkable vision of a free country for you and me!

It makes me want to give back something as meaningful to our community and our families. This is what I strive for each and every day as a parent, partner, doctor, friend and community member. Giving and guiding others to receive their best potential health, so that they can also share their goodness back to others and our community.

I’ll keep it short today so that you can stay in the moment and enjoy your family and freinds. But before I close, I’d like you to think about our American freedoms: speech, religion, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government. Together, these five guaranteed freedoms make the people of the United States of America the freest in the world.

This also relates to our Health Freedoms!

It is the freedom to make decisions for ourselves, our families, and our community about our health and survival. Health freedom is the internal compass that guides us in life-and-death decisions. It is rooted in our naturally occurring drive and commitment to keep ourselves and loved ones alive and healthy. Health freedom is a fundamental natural right of survival and personal sovereignty.

Below is a refresher of the First Amendment:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” – The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

  1. The five freedoms it protects are: speech, religion, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government. Together, these five guaranteed freedoms make the United States of America the freest and most sought after nation to model in the world.

  2. Before agreeing to accept the Constitution, the Founders of our democratic republic demanded that these freedoms be protected by an amendment to the original document – the First Amendment.

  3. There’s no “legal age” you have to reach to exercise your First Amendment freedoms. They are guaranteed to you the day you’re born. There’s also no citizenship requirement for First Amendment protection. If you’re in the U.S., you have freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly and petition.

  4. The First Amendment is neither “left-wing” or “right-wing.” It can be used to push for social and political change, or to oppose change. The First Amendment is for everyone.

  5. The First Amendment protects us against government limits on our freedom of expression, but it doesn’t prevent a private employer from setting its own rules.

  6. The First Amendment prevents government from requiring you to say something you don't want to, or keeping you from hearing or reading the words of others (even if you never speak out yourself, you have the right to receive information).

  7. Students have the right to pray in America’s public schools, as long as there’s no disruption to school operations and no government employees (teachers, coaches) are involved.

TO SUM IT UP

"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction." ~ Ronald Reagan

I hope you agree that being an American and living in America is quite a privilege. The freedoms we enjoy each and every day are special and worth fighting for. Our children and nation depend on us to keep this vision alive and well.

By paying attention to our government and legislation that are passed through the system, it’s imperative to protect the freedoms our nation was founded on. We can’t ride the fence and pick and choose which freedoms are okay and which ones aren’t. Freedom is freedom, and truth will prevail every time. We must be mindful of what we model for our children, and take the responsibility to teach justice, fairness and truth.
